Every size, and where it comes from

One line per image, each read at the platform's own help page on the date shown. A row with a link has its own page with the full rules.

"Our size" marks a box this tool chose because the platform states only a shape or a minimum.

How does the platform state its sizes?

LinkedIn documents its image sizes across seven help answers, and two of them disagree. Its Publishing FAQ still gives 2000 by 600 for an article cover, while the newer article help gives 1920 by 1080.

Each row below names the answer its figure comes from and the date it was read, so you can check a number before you design to it.

Preset: 400 × 400 px. Check the dated platform guidance on this page.

These numbers move, so check the date

A passport size has been the same for decades.

A platform's recommended image size can change in a product update nobody announces, which is why every size here shows the date somebody read it at the platform's own help page rather than presenting it as timeless.

If that date looks old and the size matters to you, the link beside it goes straight to the page it came from.

That is one click to confirm, against the alternative of trusting a number copied between blog posts since 2019.

Why your photo gets cropped

Platform sizes are shapes as much as sizes, and a photograph is rarely already that shape.

The box is filled and the overflow comes off the long edges evenly, because the alternative is stretching the picture and a stretched face is the one result nobody wants.

If the centre is not the part you want to keep, open the crop tool, drag the frame to the right region, and come back. The crop stays applied while you set the size.

What happens to your photo?

Your selected photo is processed in your browser, without an image upload to a server. The page may download code and codecs needed for editing.

Save your result before closing the tab; unsaved edits are kept in memory rather than in an online account.

Common questions

What size is a LinkedIn article cover?

LinkedIn's help on article covers gives 1920 by 1080 pixels and says covers are cropped to 16:9. It takes JPEG, PNG and WEBP, and no longer GIF. Newsletter editions use the same cover size.

LinkedIn's Publishing FAQ, last updated three years ago, still says 2000 by 600. That is where the guides quoting it got the figure.

What size is a LinkedIn event cover?

LinkedIn's event help says the cover must be 16:9 and at least 480 pixels wide, and names 480 by 270 or 1280 by 720. Event cover here makes the 1280 by 720.

The 1776 by 444 some tools offer for events is LinkedIn's figure for a group cover, a much wider 4:1 strip.

What size is a LinkedIn company logo?

LinkedIn's Page image table recommends 400 by 400 pixels, with 268 by 268 as the minimum, in a PNG or JPEG up to 3 MB. A transparent logo is shown on white.

The 300 by 300 many guides give is not on that table. It is LinkedIn's figure for a newsletter logo.

Which LinkedIn images have a file size limit?

A profile photo or banner must be under 8 MB, a Page logo or cover at most 3 MB, and a post photo at most 5 MB. LinkedIn's current pages state no limit for article, event or group covers, so those rows claim none.

This tool saves a JPG, well under every one of those limits.
