What is the 5 x 7 in print used for?
5 x 7 is a common size for a framed print, a greeting card or an invitation, one step up from a 4 x 6 snapshot. Labs also call it 5R. In centimetres it is 12.7 x 17.78.
Its shape sits between a phone's and a camera's, so both lose a little and neither loses much.
How many pixels is 5 x 7 in?
It depends on the DPI, the number of pixels printed per inch. The tool uses 300, the usual figure for a photo print, and saves it in the file. Change it beside the size fields.

What gets cropped, and why nothing is stretched
A photograph is almost never the shape you are asking for.
The image is scaled until it fills the box and the overflow is then taken off the long edges, evenly from both sides.
The alternative is stretching, which leaves faces and straight lines visibly wrong, so this tool never does it.
The fields show millimetres, centimetres or inches as well as pixels. Type a print size in any of them and the pixels follow at the DPI you chose.

Common questions
How many pixels is a 5 x 7 photo?
1500 x 2100 at 300 DPI, the usual figure for a photo print. At 150 DPI it is 750 x 1050, and at 600 DPI 3000 x 4200.
Some sites say 5 x 7 is 480 x 672 pixels. Which is right?
Both, at different DPIs. 480 x 672 is 5 x 7 at 96 DPI, a screen figure. Printed at 300 DPI those pixels make a 1.6 x 2.24 inch photo.
For a sharp 5 x 7 print, use 1500 x 2100.
How much of my photo is cut off?
A 3024 x 4032 phone photo is scaled to 1575 x 2100, and 75 pixels come off its width, 37 from one side and 38 from the other.
A 4000 x 6000 camera photo is scaled to 1500 x 2250, and 75 pixels come off the top and 75 off the bottom.
My photo is landscape. Can I print it at 7 x 5?
Yes. The page opens portrait, 5 inches wide. Type 7 in the width and 5 in the height, and the tool makes 2100 x 1500 pixels instead, still at 300 DPI.
Otherwise a landscape photo is cropped to a portrait strip from its middle.
