Why this size?
Pinterest is one of the few feeds where the shape genuinely decides how much space a post gets, because pins are laid out in columns and a taller pin occupies more of the screen.
The platform's own warning is that going past 2:3 gets the pin cut off, so 2:3 is the largest useful shape.

Why your photo gets cropped
